iConnect Distributed I/O


The iConnect I/O system provides synchronized data acquisition in a distributed test environment at high data sampling rates. Through its state-of-the-art design and open system architecture iConnect delivers high accuracy and stability, along with the ability to adapt to specific testing needs.

Today's test cell environment requires the highest level of efficiency and flexibility. The iConnect I/O system addresses these needs with its ability to be scaled to precise test requirements. The system can be easily expanded or scaled down, making unused I/O modules available for other test cells. This creates a laboratory environment where each test cell is equipped with an optimal set of I/O. Modules addressing specific needs can be added as needed.

The distributed I/O modules can be placed close to the sensors, substantially reducing the electrical noise and the required amount of wiring. Less wiring is necessary because only the cables providing power and communication lines to the I/O modules need to be routed. The electrical noise is minimized because the analog signal is converted into a digital measurement channel as close as possible to the sensor.

The iConnect system architecture consists of 2 major components:

  1. The iConnect e.gate data concentrator
  2. The iConnect e.bloxx and Q.bloxx I/O modules

iConnect e.gate

iConnect e.gate data concentrator is the link between the I/O modules and the iTest automation system. While capturing all channels from the iConnect I/O modules the data concentrator synchronizes all data and applies time stamps to ensure proper alignment.

Each iConnect e.gate can connect up to 4 buses containing various numbers of iConnect I/O modules. Here's what a Typical Configuration may look like. For more complex I/O systems, multiple iConnect e.Gate systems can be connected to the iTest test cell automation system. Here's what an Advanced Configuration may look like.
