Our History

The company began in 1984 as DSP Technology, specializing in data acquisition and control for the powertrain testing market. In 1999 DSP Technology was purchased by MTS Systems, the leading provider of mechanical test systems for material testing, fatigue testing and tensile testing, as well as motion simulation systems and calibration services. The company then became MTS Systems Powertrain Technology Division.

A&D Technology was founded in 2005 as an American subsidiary of A&D Company, Ltd., a global manufacturer of testing and measurement equipment withheadquarters in Tokyo, Japan. The goal was to bring A&D Company’s testing and measurement expertise into the automotive engine and powertrain development market.

In 2005, A&D Company, Ltd, a world-class producer of advanced measuring, monitoring, controlling and testing instruments, was expanding into the automotive testing arena, and looking to establish an entity in North America. The timing was perfect, as MTS had decided to divest itself of the Powertrain business, and on August 8, 2005, A&D Technology, Inc. was officially founded.

Recognizing the need for an organization with experience in engine and powertrain test cell integration, A&D purchased the former Powertrain Technology Division of MTS Systems. Together these two companies have over 30 years of experience in supporting powertain and vehicle development.

A&D Company’s expertise originates from their unique skill in analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion technology, producing state-of-the-art equipment, including electronic balances,scales, weighing indicators and blood pressure monitors. Utilizing a model-based development platform, A&D Technology has applied this same technology in developing a broad range of measurement, control and simulation products.

With A&D Company’s long history of high-accuracy measurement technology, and A&D Technology’s proven expertise in both conventional and hybrid powertrain development tools and test cell integration services, A&D is uniquely qualified to provide a complete turnkey solution for a widevariety of applications in engine and full vehicle development and testing.
