BMS HILS

The testing of Battery Management Systems (BMS) with real Li-ion batteries can be costly and time consuming. Using a system such as A&D’s BMS Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) system will help shorten the development cycle of a BMS system. Tire Testing for Electrification Development

Tire testing is essential for OEMs who are looking to understanding fuel economy and how a vehicle interacts with the road. A&D offers the top tier of tire testing machines including machines for contact patch tire testing, flat belt tire testing and rolling resistance tire testing.

Wheel Force Sensor (WFS)

Part of the A&D VMS system, the A&D wheel force sensor (WFS) is a high-accuracy, 6-axis wheel force measurement system for real-time measurement of forces (Fx, Fy, Fz) and moments (Mx, My, Mz) acting on the wheel hub under dynamic conditions. The WFS uses distributed force bridges for measurement and model-based decomposition in the digital signal processor (DSP) for obtaining individual force and moment components. This method provides extremely low-cross sensitivity, interference & temperature sensitivity while still maintaining a high sampling rate. In addition to providing the highest accuracy and response rate, the WFS is also capable of compensating for tire uniformity characteristics in real-time to provide the ultimate in force and torque measurement. Wheel Position Sensor

The Wheel Position Sensor (WPS), part of A&D’s Vehicle Measurement System (VMS), is a high-accuracy system that records tire position by gathering data measured against a reference point on the vehicle body. Position is calculated using an original A&D model, which eliminates the need for calibration. The system includes multiple high-resolution 17-bit rotary encoders that output the angle data which is then converted to displacement and angle values.

Six individual sensors simultaneously measure the angles independently. The data is then integrated into absolute values by the WPS indicator, eliminating the need for relative data. The WPS can be attached to most standard wheels and has an IP65 waterproof rating.

Laser Ground Speed Sensor

The Laser Ground Sensor (LGS), part of A&D’s Vehicle Measurement System (VMS), is a high-accuracy dynamic vehicle measurement sensor that collects speed and position data of a vehicle relative to the ground.  The LGS combines two speed sensors and three distance sensors.  The speed sensors, Laser Doppler Velocimeters, (LDV), measure the ground speed along two directions and tire rotation.  The LDV uses the Laser Doppler method, and is able to detect zero speed as well.   The Laser Displacement Sensors (LDS) measure the distance from the sensor to the ground to identify wheel height change during the drive.   Using a Digital Signal Processor (DSP), the slip, camber, pitch and roll angles can be determined using model-based calculations.

Force Matrix Sensor

The A&D Force Matrix Sensor (FMS) measures the three component forces, longitudinal, lateral and radial, that occur where the tire contacts the road. A standard FMS unit consists of one row of 40 8mm sensors embedded in a base plate.Units can be added as needed for larger tires. The base plate is installed flush with the road surface. As the tire drives over the FMS, tire footprint forces are measured and recorded using A&D’s high-speed data acquisition & processing unit.

  • Individual sensors have an area of 8mmx 8mm for high-resolution tread pattern analysis
  • Can be mounted on indoor machines or outdoors on the road surface
  • Operable under rainy conditions (drip proof)
  • Units can be combined longitudinally and laterally as needed for testing tires of different sizes
  • Signals can be synchronized with on-board vehicle measurements

Rotating Torque Sensor

The AD7832 Rotating Torque Sensor (RTS) leverages A&D’s experience in distributed force detection, high-speed telemetry and digital signal processing technology to enable non-contact torque measurement at high-speed with high resolution. With certain models, rotational speed and angle can also be measured.

  • Dual range capability, where the full scale can be reduced to 1/5 of the rated capacity with the same accuracy.
  • Uses distributed force detection technology to achieve high accuracy.
